In February 2024, Hong Kong police officers in Sing Tao responded to a “National security alarm” after illegal “Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of our Times!” slogans appeared on a Wong Tai Sin path. However, it was a false alarm; it turns out the paint covering the 2019 demonstration slogans had worn away, revealing the slogans from the time of the demonstrations. Time as usual is on the side of the revolutionaries. A beautiful touch of symbolism here: freedom never dies; you can cover it up all you want, but it’ll never wash away.
